Student Conduct Process
The Student Conduct Process includes the formal and informal process the college may take to resolve complaints and alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Students should review the conduct process so they are fully aware of their rights and responsibilities. The process is designed to be educational with the understanding that everyone makes decisions that can lead to negative consequences.
When a student goes through the formal resolution process, they will have a hearing with either a college administrator or the College Conduct Board. The student is given the opportunity to share his/her perspective and review the information and evidence which the college would use to base any decisions.
Students who are found responsible would be assigned a conduct status and an educational sanction designed to help the student reflect on and learn from the experience. Some complaints do not require a formal resolution to be resolved. In these instances, the college may utilize one or more options to resolve the matter, including educational conversations, restorative justice, and amnesty for certain situations.
Students may appeal decisions made in the Student Conduct Process or under the Sexual Harassment, Discrimination, and Misconduct Policy (Title IX). There are specific criteria which must be met for an appeal to be heard and the appeal must be in writing. Appeals must be received within the designated time period and to the appropriate staff person via email. The full description of the appeals process is listed in the Student Handbook.
