Shakita Huerta

Shakita Huerta holds a Master of Science in Applied Economics from Southern New Hampshire University.

Huerta is a dedicated educator and lifelong learner who brings creative energy to her work. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics and later completed her master’s degree. She is committed to helping students build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and see mathematics as useful beyond the classroom.

After serving her country in the military for six years, Shakita continued her commitment to education by tutoring mathematics to learners ranging from elementary students to college-level students. Shakita’s academic and professional interests include educational research, educational economics, mentorship, complex problem-solving, student development, and the broader value of education. She is currently working towards a PhD in Education Leadership and remains actively involved in professional associations that support her growth as an educator and leader.

Shakita is also developing a mathematics curriculum built around a 3+2 Mastery Model for homeschool families. Her curriculum work is guided by the belief that mathematics is more than arithmetic; it is a way of thinking.

Beyond her academic journey, Shakita enjoys sustainable living on her family farm, church, creating content for her farm website, lattes, reading, nature, cooking, and sharing outdoor adventures with her husband and children.
