Will and Pat Hinton moved to Louisburg in 1983. Will has served as Professor of Visual Art over these past 40 years. During these four decades Louisburg College has gained both the Faulkner Permanent Art Gallery and the Lumpkin Travelling Gallery which are both located in our Jones Performing Arts Center.  In 2015 our Visual Arts area was doubled in size with the addition of the Ray Hodges Fine Arts Complex.

Each of the past 80 semesters has found Will teaching studio classes in Clay and Drawing, as well as Art Appreciation lecture classes. He has been involved with  large Public Art projects across the state, served as a consultant with the North Carolina Arts Council, and taught at the Penland School of Craft in the mountains of NC and at Anderson Ranch in Aspen, Colorado. He will continue to work with drawings and ceramics at his studio here in Louisburg following his retirement this semester.

Pat Hinton served as a Louisburg College librarian for 21 years, 17 of those as Head Librarian. Pat is a painter who also has a studio here in Louisburg where she paints still lifes, landscapes and collages in a variety of media. Her work strives for a simplification of form, shape and color.

Both of our daughters have tremendous gifts in the Visual Arts, yet have careers in other professional fields of work.  Camilla Hinton is a Senior Manager of Recruitment at  Grifols, a Spanish Health Care company in the RTP. Dr. Zoe Hinton is completing her 2nd year of her Orthopedic Residency at Duke Hospital.
