Anna Podris and Keith Norval, both Savannah College of Art and Design graduates, are a husband-and-wife art team who are active in the Raleigh arts scene and in art education.
They were members of City Market Artist Collective and shared a studio at ArtSpace in downtown Raleigh for 16 years. Podris and Norval have shown their work extensively throughout the Triangle and around the country.
Norval's body of work combines abstract elements, stream of consciousness, pop art and comic book influences, and athropomorphic animals with reoccurring characters and situations. Norval aims to explore modern life with a simplified approach to the picture plane that explores the universe through personal symbols.
For Podris, painting is a way to depict her own parallel universe. Her interior settings have a surrealist or magical realist quality as she usually includes elements of earth, air, fire, and water as part of a recurring theme. Sometimes, she creates a visual culture of personified animals in woodland settings, a contemplation of the mystical aspect of nature.
We can't wait to see you all there!
