On Saturday, March 4, 2023, the Louisburg College Cheer team competed at the Christian Cheerleaders of America’s (CCA) Nationals in Fayetteville, NC. 

The competition included multiple events that took place that morning and evening. These events included: College Co-ed, College Game Time, Mascot, College Game Time Co-ed, College Large Co-ed, and College Jump Off. 

The Friday before the competition, Louisburg College faculty and staff lined the stairway of Main to give the team a warm send-off before they drove to Fayetteville’s Crown Coliseum. The team, who were all smiles and laughs, was sent off with cheers, hugs, and treats.

The team won five titles, including the College Jump Off National Champion, College Mascot National Champions, College Co-ed LTD National Champions, and College Game Time National Champions. 

The largest win for ‘Canes Cheer came as they received the award for College Game Time National Grand Champions! 

“Thank you everyone for your never-ending support,” Coach Erin Bell said in an Instagram post. “We had the best time at CCA Nationals!”

Upon the team’s return, they were recognized at half-time during the women’s Basketball game on Monday, March 6. However, the largest celebration came on Thursday, March 9, when they were honored in front of students, administrators, faculty, and staff. The event included cake, snacks, a slideshow presentation of their routines and pictures, and a few words of congratulations from staff. 

“This team is truly amazing and so hardworking,” Dean of Academic Operations Maleeka Love said. “Congratulations!”
