Hurricane Michael Closes Louisburg College

hurricane

In light of the advance of Hurricane Michael, Louisburg College will close at noon on Thursday, October 11th, with classes ending at 11:00am.  The worst of the weather conditions, including heavy rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph, are forecast to be in our area by early afternoon and into the evening.  Essential personnel will remain on campus to provide operational support.

The safety of all members of our campus community is our top priority.  With fall break now beginning at the close of classes at 11:00am today, and in light of the weather, students are strongly urged to carefully consider travel plans in consultation with their families.  Students should delay travel until tomorrow if necessary for safety reasons.  This is a fast-moving storm and should exit the area later tonight.  As a reminder, the residence halls and Duke Dining Hall WILL be open during fall break should you decide to delay your fall break travel.

Students remaining on campus during the storm are reminded to remain indoors during the height of the storm for safety.  Students should continue to monitor campus email, the Louisburg College homepageLC Alerts, and social media for updates.  The National Weather Service webpage is also a resource for weather information that can assist in making travel decisions.

Please stay safe!  Feel free to contact the Student Life Office or the Campus Safety and Police Office with any questions or concerns.
